「point＝要点・核心」という意味から、話が本題へ進むことを促す表現として定着。相手の前置きや脱線を切って結論を求める文脈で使われる。

補足（日本語）
相手に結論や核心を求める言い方。命令形はやや強く失礼に聞こえることがあるので、丁寧に言うなら「Could you get to the point?」などが無難。
文法・使い方の注意点（日本語）
多くは命令・依頼の形で用いられる（Get to the point. / Could you…）。三人称では「gets to the point」、否定で「never/didn’t get to the point」など。
