由来・語源
19世紀ごろから見られる表現で、question を「検討・議論の対象」という意味で用い、「検討の範囲外＝不可能／認められない」という比喩から成立。

Skipping the safety check is out of the question, even if we're behind schedule.
予定が遅れていても、安全点検を省略するなんて論外だ。
